The Magoda Project is a series of eight prototype houses constructed in Magoda, a rural settlement in the Tanga region of Tanzania. The project explores design elements of traditional Asian and African dwellings to generate a variety of new and improved housing designs, as a way to minimise diseases in rural Africa.

The situation became pretext for two major architectural gestures. On one hand, it places the museum spaces below ground, allowing them to become more reserved and quiet. On the other, its roof establishes a new urban square that emphasizes the public dimension
are we saving the planet? a simple, important and, I believe, welcomed question, exactly in a professional entourage which is, at first sight, less political: in architecture and urbanism. but the architecture, being less of an intersection point of economic, environmental and social, therefore, sustainable processes, is actually politics by its essence. if we perceive architecture as a process and not as an object, then we slowly come closer to the finest understanding of what we call sustainability.
The theoretical thinking has suffered, in the late modernity, a certain shift in its axis. The first question troubling the contemporary conscience is not (any longer) the one formulated in a famous monologue – to be or not to be? –, but rather the following one: to action or not to action? A question accompanied by an undeniable sense of urgency, the reason for which we consider that it is – has become – the first question.
